I thought of this logo while I was on my lunch break during work.  It was originally conceived on a stained napkin that I used to wipe my mouth off with.  I would of posted the original napkin but as it turns out I accidentally threw it away along with the rest of my meal.  Fortunately, I didn’t throw the idea away entirely.

This is another revised layout of a Porch Magazine article spread that was originally conceived 7 years ago.

To summarize the article:  Tobacco companies and politicians both take money from smokers, but politicians do it by force, through taxes and the higher prices that result from litigation. By contrast, tobacco companies have to give smokers something for their money.

Back when I was in college I and two other students produced a free community art magazine called PORCH that dealt with social issues in the community (Sarasota, FL), as well as showcased artists, writers, poets, dancers, musicians and local events.  The print version of the magazine lasted almost 4 years and went digital for another two.  My role in the magazine was to act as the Art Director and Lead Illustrator.  I was in control of which artists were showcased each month, interviewing subjects, and proprietor duties during quarterly events.  Recently I had been looking back through the collection of magazines my team and I had created and thought it would be a good exercise for me to revise the layouts of some of the articles in order to showcase my design ability.

The Ilan-Lael Foundation is an arts education foundation celebrating nature and the aesthetic of the built environment for it’s ability to help us see ourselves and our world in new ways.  It was founded by James and Anne Hubbell in 1982.  I had the pleasure of working in the marketing department these past few months and can’t say enough about the amount of dedication and determination this team of people possess towards obtaining the foundations goals.  I share similar beliefs and will continue to spread their message by helping create spaces to connect people, art and nature for a more sustainable and harmonious world.

The above image is a ticket that I produced for the most recent event, “Conversations on Beauty: Beauty and the Built Environment.” Two different versions of the ticket were produced.  One for people who pre-purchased tickets for the event and the other for people who purchased tickets at the door.
